First impressions are important on first dates. We all know that. Though the tried and true advice of ‘be yourself’ applies in any and all situations, it’s important to always put our best feet forward when it comes to the impression we make on a potential partner. Thankfully you are not alone, here is some advice from us to you on dating and making the right first impression.

1 – Wear Something Comfortable
Most surveys indicate that people notice things like eyes and smiles first when meeting for a blind date. Hair and outfit rank low on the list. So while you shouldn’t show up in your PJs, it’s alright to not spend 3 hours getting ready either. Just make sure you are putting your personal best foot forward.
2 – Be Interesting
It’s important to have interests or hobbies so that you have something to discuss on your date, it isn’t enough to just blindly go along with what your partner likes. Have opinions, differing ones even, and use that to build rapport with your date.
3 – Focus
I cannot stress this enough so listen up. Put your cell phone away. One more time for the people in the back – PUT YOUR CELL PHONE AWAY. Just as you wouldn’t open a book or a newspaper during your date, keep the phone out of reach as well. If you have a genuinely urgent call or message, excuse yourself and take it somewhere away from the table.
These are our most basic tips for making a good first impression on a first date, but they are the three most important. If you keep these in mind, it will set a good foundation for yourself to shine on your next blind date.
