1 – Be Honest
If you have strong political opinions it is important to open up to your partner. Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy in relationships. If you are afraid that the ‘perfect guy/girl’ will reject you because of your views, then they most likely weren’t the ideal match for you regardless.
2 – Get Involved Together
Once you have had a serious talk about your political ideals and why they are important to you – there will likely be some overlap. Find a topic that you both feel passionately about and get involved. Go to a march or protest together, organize an event – be active together. This allows you to get passionate together in a new way.
3 – Compromise
It is important to know when to compromise and when not to. This will take some serious introspection. What are issues that are deal breakers for you and ones that you can be more open-minded with? Ask yourself these questions and apply them to the interactions you have with your significant other.
